IIT JAM Counselling 2026: IIT Bombay will begin IIT JAM 2026 counselling process in April. Candidates are required to register for JAM counselling 2026 before the deadline. Students who have qualified in the IIT JAM 2026 exam will be eligible for the counselling process. Aspirants are needed to fill out their preferences of institutions and other necessary choices while submitting the IIT JAM 2026 admission form.

IIT JAM counselling is an important event to get admission in different institutions participating in JAM exam. Candidates will be provided with three options to choose during JAM 2026 counselling process. They can either accept the seat allotted and freeze it or can accept an upgrade for the better option or can reject and quit the allotted seat and the further process. Counselling is an important step in the JAM 2026 admission process. Students are advised to follow the points mentioned below to get a better understanding of JAM 2026 counselling.
Selected candidates first need to register themselves for the JAM counselling and fill out their preferred choices in terms of colleges and courses.
As soon as the registration closes, IIT Bombay will release the JAM admission list in the form of opening and closing rank. Students can check this list on their website.
As the next step, they will be called by the institution for counselling.
Institution will then ask for the documents for verification.
Successful candidates will have three options to choose.
Accept and Freeze- Candidates will accept their allotted seats and reserve the seat by paying seat booking fees.
Accept and Upgrade- They accept their seat and also look for the better option.
Reject and Quit- In the last option, candidates can withdraw their name from IIT JAM admission list. This will also cease further involvement in any counselling round.

Students need to present some documents during the counselling. They are also advised to take the documents in original as well as in photocopies.

Candidates who are satisfied with their JAM seat allotment will submit their seat booking fees in any of the following payment options such as debit card, credit card, net banking and UPI. Submission of JAM seat reservation 2026 fees means students are now taking admission in allotted institutes or ready to take part in the further process. The IIT JAM counselling fees vary depending upon the category of the students. General/ Unreserved category students as well as OBC-NCL, and EWS categories are required to pay Rs 15,000, when students who belong to SC, ST, and PWD category are required to pay Rs 7,500 as the JAM counselling fees.
IIT JAM seat reservation fees differ in categories. It is Rs.15,000 for General and OBC students and Rs.7,5000 for Sc, ST and PwD category students.
