    University of Delhi will start the DU admission process from August 2. Similar to every year, millions of aspirants from every city of the country will be applying for admission to Delhi University. However, getting admission in Delhi University colleges is one of the most competitive selection processes within India. The high number of applicants from every corner of the country makes it much more difficult to get admission in DU colleges. Students should have secured above 98 percent marks in Class 12th to get admission in a top DU college.

    Delhi University is expected to release seven DU cutoff lists this year with the first cutoff releasing in between September 7 to 10. When DU first cutoff is released, a lot of candidates cannot get admission in their desired colleges and courses due to high cutoff and have to settle for some other college or course. However, if such candidates meet the cutoff requirements of their desired colleges in DU second or third cutoff then university allows them to withdraw their first admission and take admission in the college and course of their choice.

    Candidates have to go through a few procedures to cancel or withdraw their admission from the college. Careers360 has created this article to make this process easier and understandable for students.

    How to Cancel Admission and Change DU College?

    Following are the steps to cancel and change the DU college or course -

    Steps to Cancel Admission and Change DU College

    1. Change the DU college or course

    Applicants who wish to change colleges have to cancel their first admission. To cancel the first admission, candidates have to go to the admission portal of Delhi University - du.ac.in and click on the ‘Cancel’ tab. Then, they need to remit a cancellation fee and print out a copy of the cancellation fees slip.

    The admission fee at the second college is adjusted automatically if it’s the same as the first college. However, applicants have to pay the balance fee if the admission fee is more than the fees already paid at the formar college. If the fee in the second college is less than the previous one then the balance is refunded to the applicant’s account.

    2. Remit the cancellation fee

    While cancelling the admission, the fee is refunded to the candidate’s account with a deduction of Rs. 1000. The remaining amount of the admission fee is adjusted automatically as the admission fee of the second college. After completing the cancellation fee process, the students also receive a cancellation slip. They are advised to retain this receipt and print out multiple copies of the slip as it is required during the document verification.

    3. Select New Course and College

    Now that candidates have completed the cancelled admission to the previous college, they can proceed to choose their desired college and course. For admission to a new college and course, applicants have to visit the official website and log into the UG admission portal. Before starting the selection process, applicants need to make sure that they fulfill the cutoff requirements for the new college and course.

    4. Collect original documents from former college

    Once candidates have completed their cancellation process, they need to obtain their original certificates or documents from the previously admitted college. After acquiring the documents, applicants are required to submit their original certificates or documents at the new college.

    5. Document verification in new college

    Applicants need to reach the campus of the selected college on the scheduled dates to attend the documents verification process. They need to carry the following original documents for verification purposes.

    • Class 10th mark sheet

    • Class 12th mark sheet and certificate

    • Transfer certificate

    • Migration certificate

    • Candidate’s two passport size photographs

    • Candidate’s scanned Signature

    • PWD/SC/ST certificate (If applicable)

    • OBC - NCL (Non-Creamy Layer) Certificate (if applicable)

    • Income certificate (OBC-NCL)

    • Kashmir Migrant Certificate (For candidates applying under Kashmir Migrant Quota)

    • Educational Concession Certificate (Only for CW Quota)

    • ECA Distinction/ Sports Certificate (Of last three years)

    6. Final Fee Payment

    After getting the documents verified, candidates have to pay a mandatory fee to claim a seat in the newly admitted college.

    Delhi University gives candidates a specific period of time to change college or courses. It should also be known that if a candidate’s application form for admission to a college or course is rejected, they can apply again.
