Dr. Singh is known for his strong advocacy of NEP 2020, and for forward thinking approach and emphasis on skill- based education designed to make students more employable. While addressing, he called for long-overdue structural reforms in India, challenging the notion that compulsory classroom attendance is essential to today’s needs. “Making attendance compulsory according to me is unethical," he said, "We are forcing students to sit in front of us and listen to something which they are not interested in,” he added.
When addressing the gap that graduates are viewed as unemployable by the industry because the traditional system fails to assess higher- order learning, problem- solving, and practical application, he said, “it is proven beyond doubt that 80% learning takes place outside the classroom and we assess them only on 20% what happens at the classroom. And therefore, the industry does not find our students relevant."
He also suggested that institutions should cut traditional lectures down to 40%. The remaining time should be devoted to field- based, experiential learning.
As Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Raj Singh is actively guiding Bennett University toward a future-ready educational model, equipping students to tackle the evolving workplace demands brought on by AI and automation.”
